Assessment of which projects should be granted production funding is carried out by film commissioners who are appointed for a limited period. There are six commissioners, two for feature films, one for short films, one for documentaries, one for International Co-productions and drama series, and one for Moving Sweden.
The commissioners present their proposals to the CEO, who decides on production funding on delegation by the board of the Film Institute.
The feature film commissioners can also propose production funding for children's and documentary films.
The film commissioners' mandate period is three years, with the possibility of a limited extension.
