The current National Film Agreement for 2013-2015 contains an equality directive which states that "the funding shall be divided equally between women and men" in the key positions of director, screenwriter and producer in those projects which receive funding from the Swedish Film Institute. In the previous Film Agreement the gender equality directive was formulated that the proportion of men and women in the key positions "should be at least 40 percent".
The Film Institute produces a wealth of statistics relating to the division of men and women in Swedish film, partly to enable us to analyse and evaluate our own equality initiatives, and also because they are often requested by the government and the film industry in general. The following pages contain a considerable number of these statistics.
