Plot summary:
Balladen om Marie is about Marie Krøyer, wife of the Danish artist P.S. Krøyer. It begins at the time when Krøyer, a manic-depressive, was in decline and his dream of a community of artists was fading. Torn between her roles as wife, mother and artist, Marie's frustrations at not being able to express herself through her own art begin to grow.
